For the past week my roommates haven't turned on the main lights in our room. The blinds remain closed and the pole lamp on its lowest setting. Aside from the occasional desk lamp halo projected against a wall or the warm glow of the various decorative holiday lights set up there is no light in here. I don't much mind this.
Compounded with the worsening weather it creates a welcoming environment that you look forward too after classes. Warm, dark, and cosy. It's the type of conditions that you expect to find more than one cs major living in or copious amounts of bacteria. But there's of course the obvious problems with it. It's the week before finals. We shouldn't be so cosy that even the scrap wood dorm desk chair and desk combination sounds comfortable. Motivation is running low as it is with the semester ending, but this is sucking out any remaining desire to do productive work whatsoever.
Well. That's not true. While I haven't been spending the time I probably should be on schoolwork (is there even any left? other than studying for my calculus final?) I have been turning back to web stuff. It was my original intention to put off work on the KME site off till break but it's hard to resist just installing Plone and letting it sit on your hard drive unexplored. And so my days have thus been filled with the ZMI instead of reading about all the different types of unemployment.
I'm sure I'll be ranting a lot about the KME website in the future. *sigh* I definitely am my father's daughter, I just can't throw together a cookie cutter template without taking into consideration web 2.0 trends and creating a recognizable brand. It's absolutely ridiculous, and a total shame that I can fufill an art LSP through this.
